Do you ever feel small sometimes? What’s that like for you? Do you know what makes you feel small? Where it lands on your body? What your gut reaction is? Today I explored this with a client during our grounding and mindfulness exercise at the beginning of her expressive arts therapy session. It isn’t easy being with that feeling of being small. Welcoming it. Holding it. Acknowledging it. Reassuring it it has a place. But we did. With love and compassion and kindness. Then we explored feeling bigger. What that looked like. Why we felt that way. Asking important questions like: were we more resourced? Did we feel stronger? More connected? And finally we went really big, exploring when we have the capacity and energy to shore up and give from our full cup. This was such an eye-opening experience. So rich. So inviting. So honest. It’s amazing the kind of journey we can go on with just a piece of Play-Doh.When we let the arts hold us and all that we bring, we free ourselves to experience ourselves and the world around us a little lighter. 🎨🌱🌈
