Tending to Trauma and Attachment Wounds with Play

Deep inner child work with a therapy client today. This particular piece holds the mother wound with playfulness, compassion and care. I don’t know how people try to tend to these wounds without the arts. I know I tried for years and ended up even more broken. Talk therapy is great for some issues, but when it comes to trauma and attachment wounds, I truly believe we need to come into our bodies, create with our hands, move, be with our breath, sing, paint, stitch, sculpt, and of course play. Lots and lots of play. It amazes me how much healing can be found in this liminal space where we get a break from the harsh smack of reality for moments to go inward and discover a whole new world of possibilities. What a gift! 💝
