RE: Including Qualifying Registered Psychotherapists in our Benefits Plan

To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing to formally request that Qualifying Registered Psychotherapists be added to our employee benefits plan.

Our plan currently covers services provided by Registered Psychotherapists. Qualifying Registered Psychotherapists are regulated professionals who are in the process of fulfilling the requirements to become Registered Psychotherapists. Qualifying Registered Psychotherapists are permitted to practice psychotherapy under the clinical supervision of a professional regulated in the practice of psychotherapy, according to the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario.

Insuring supervised psychotherapy services, such as those provided by Qualifying Registered Psychotherapists, has many benefits including the following:

  • Employees are able to access psychotherapy from a wider range of professionals, which means that wait times for receiving services are drastically reduced;
  • Employees have more choices regarding their psychotherapy provider, which is important as research has demonstrated the significance of the therapeutic relationship in the process of change;
  • Receiving supervised services may be more cost-effective;
  • Supervision allows knowledge and experience to be shared between professionals, which helps ensure employees receive high-quality care.

Thank you for your attention to this important matter.
