It Doesn’t Have to Make Sense or Sound Good
This evening’s unwinding came in the form of free flow of consciousness journaling. One of the things that I’ve learned is that I journal from a deeper place when I journal in unexpected ways. So, tonight, I took an empty roll of aluminum foil, used it to trace some circles onto a page, painted the circles, used a pencil to draw lines across the page around the circles and then began to write. The art making before the journaling loosened something in me. The uneven, bumpy lines drew something out of me. I just wrote. It didn’t matter if it made sense or if it sounded good. What mattered was that I was letting what was inside out. I did this to some meditation music and found myself feeling relaxed and released. Have you ever tried journaling in an unconventional way? 📝🎨
